How to Cook Your Life
Edward Espe Brown
Zen Master Tenkei said, “See with your eyes, smell with your nose, taste with your tongue…nothing in the universe is hidden.” Beyond following recipes or simply doing what you’ve been told, is liberation in the kitchen, freely realizing the way to cook by letting the ingredients come forward to awaken and nourish, letting your own body and mind come alive to cook. We will bake, cut, chop, clean, taste, talk, meditate and cook – preparing food for ourselves each day. Talks will be based on Zen master Dogen’s “Instructions to the Cook” (Tenzokyokun). We will be in Silence during parts of the retreat.
